DESCRIPTION:Anti-Imperial Metropolis: Interwar Paris and the Seeds of Third World Nationalism\nInterwar Paris became a crossroads for anticolonial and anti-imperialist ideas that helped shape a post-imperial world order. This talk seeks to reconstruct the microhistory of these politics from the perspective of social and urban history\, foregrounding the role of migration in an unequal world of rights. It argues that this cauldron shaped a particular way of thinking about the world that later proved uniquely influential. \n \nMichael Goebel is Einstein Professor of Global History at Freie Universität Berlin. His research explores migration\, cities\, inequality\, empire\, and modern Latin America in comparative and global perspective. He is the author of Anti-Imperial Metropolis: Interwar Paris and the Seeds of Third World Nationalism and is currently completing a global history of modern cities while developing a comparative project on migration\, property\, and inequality. \nProgram\n19:00 – Welcoming the participants\n19:30-20:30 – Conference followed by Q&A\nAt the end of the conference\, a cocktail reception will be offered by the Société d’Histoire. \nRegistration\n75 RMB for young members\n150 RMB for members\n300 RMB for non-members \nThese assigned tickets are non-refundable and non-exchangeable. \nTo register\, scan the following QR code or click on the image.
